Residence for Happystudio
In addition to rock climbing, this case also integrates different activities such as office work, study, reading, games and more, while taking into account traditional functions (kitchen, bedroom, etc.), making the most flexible use. No matter how evolved, the essence of home is the same - a warm and comfortable place. That's why the designers chose the tree house shape, even though there is no smoke coming out of the chimney.

Not only is the rock climbing included in this project, but also other activities like working, learning, reading and playing to maximize its flexibility, while maintaining the traditional functions: kitchen, dinning and bedrooms. No matter how evolving, the essence of home remains the same, a warm and cozy place. This is also the reason why we chose a tree house as an icon, though there is no smoke coming out if its chimney.
Transform Living, In house, New Generation Residence
The main material is birch plywood.
The most difficult part is how to design sports facilities that meet the needs and can be combined with space. In order to achieve this goal, in addition to matching materials and colors, and extending the organic shape of the climbing wall, the pattern of the entire space is unified.
The project spent 3 months for design and 6 months for construction, completed in 2019 summer in Taipei, Taiwan.
In addition, we tried to put timeline into consideration: Space may adjust according to the child’s growth. The design of a tree house echoes the idea of climbing, also reserving abundant room for two kids to play for the time being. Several years later, the tree house will become the wardrobe, and the teenagers will own their own rooms respectively.
Climbing can help children with different developments from many aspects. Climbing activities require the coordinated operation of all parts of the body, the comprehensive cooperation of hands, feet, eyes and body. Children's mastering of climbing techniques can promote physical coordination and make them more flexible and responsive. Whenever a child climbs to a new place, it brings a new sense and body face to the child's vision, which helps to cultivate the child's space concept. Therefore, climbing can not only practice motor skills, promote physical development, but also explore the environment. Moreover, during the climbing process, the children will have a lot of fun, so they will find it very interesting to climb up from the ground and practice repeatedly. It is from children's repeated attempts that they gradually overcome difficulties, accumulate face, and improve their skills. Brave and confident will not come out freely. It is in children's repeated attempts to train themselves and cultivate the spirit of fear and toughness lays the foundation for their personal struggle spirit when they grow up.
Cities have been expanding for centuries and the population increases dramatically. Along with great changes caused by the highly developed internet services and threats of the latest infectious diseases, the dwelling has to evolve. All the traditional function defined by its activities, like an office, school, library, playground, track and field, restaurant etc., will connect like clouds and shrink like a mini-world. Therefore, a residence will interact with the desire of its tenants, acting like a treasure box.
