Unique Properties

The arched elements are integrated into the relationship among space, experience and nature, adopting the shape extension of Maijishan Grottoes in Tianshui and integrating the contemporary design techniques to present the symbolic creativity. In the form and the structure, the symbolic expression is prudently carried out, which echoes the natural simplicity, unadorned property and serenity, and awakens the memory and vitality of urban people.

Production Technology

Sand table area takes stone and metal as the main material, through the comparison of materials and moving line processing to complete the rendering and continuation of two-dimensional elements. The sand table base surrounded by white stone protrudes above the ground.

Design Challenge

The negotiation area takes a wonderful scene from the history and culture of Maijishan, which is fixed as "comprehension", showing a sacred sense of ceremony in the scale of 10.5 meters. The design technique creates space interest from the possibility of multiple forms of materials and lines.

Project Duration

The project started in May 2020 in Tianshui and finished in November 20200 in Tianshui.

Operation Flow

The integration of the grottoes mural carpet will pull people's sense of time back from space consciousness to the second space. The staircase leading to the model house on the second floor is inspired by the plank road of Maijishan Grottoes.

Research

Tianshui, China has been the place which necessarily be passed on the Silk Road since ancient time. It stretches across the basin of Yangtze River and the Yellow River, with beautiful scenery all the year round and profound historical background, becoming one of the most important birthplaces of Chinese civilization.

Inspiration

Its design is refining the unique cultural history of the region into a time tunnel. Therefore, this case takes the Maijishan Grottoes as the inspiration source , and arch as the parent element. The arch establishes the harmonious and solemn atmosphere of the whole field, whose coordination of the arch often brings a unique and meaningful aesthetic feeling.
