Production Technology
The wide last addresses foot pinching users may experience while wearing shoes. The rear half utilizes mesh fabric, polyurethane and high-density EVA to well support the arch, whereby even users with flat arches can walk effortlessly. The highly breathable one piece Flyknit upper and soft cowhide ensure light weight, and effectively maintain the shoe’s shape to prevent it from widening or deforming. The heel uses Lycra, foam and bird eye mesh fabric to improve breathability and softness.
Design Challenge
The design challenge lies in how to help users put on and take off shoes easily while also providing a comfortable wearing experience. The slip on design of M809BK enables users to quickly put on and take off their shoes without bending over. The wide last and arch support design address foot pinching and foot fatigue during prolonged walking. Premium materials lead to enhanced softness, breathability, and slip resistance, making the shoes suitable for diverse scenarios.
Project Duration
The product was developed in January 2023 in Shanghai, and launched in December 2023 in China.
Operation Flow
The heel inspired by shoe pullers introduces a slip on design, allowing users to easily put on or take off shoes without bending over or using additional tools. The outsole with a stable trapezoidal structure has a larger contact area with the ground, offering excellent support and reducing the risk of rolling ankles.This also evenly distributes pressure exerted on the sole of the foot to alleviate fatigue. The full-length rubber outsole boasts the staggered wedged pattern for slip resistance.
Research
Walking shoes emphasizing foot health and comfort are increasingly popular among consumers. However, the fast pace of modern urban life has led to new demands for shoes that can be quickly put on and taken off. The middle aged and elderly populations face challenges like reduced flexibility and strength, foot deformation leading to foot pinching, and collapsed arch causing walking fatigue. Therefore, M809BK uses a slip on design, a wide last and arch support design to enhance wearing comfort.
Inspiration
M809BK is inspired by shoe pullers, and geometric elements symbolizing stability. Its slip on design allows users to put on or take off the shoes more conveniently. Viewed from the rear, the outsole presents a stable triangular shape. The outsole pattern blends triangles and rectangles. The heel counter and the rear part of the outsole use arc shapes, while the upper adopts a trapezoidal shape. Those geometric elements enrich the overall design, and functionally enhance stability and comfort.
