Pendant Lamp for Maytoni
This collection turns sound into an object. Now people can not only hear the melody, but also see and touch it. During the development, the musical composition of Claude Debussy "Prelude No. 3, Wind on the Plain" was first chosen. After that, the music was turned into an image of a sound wave using a special program. It became the basis for the silhouette of the lamp. However, the changes were made to it in order to optimize the design for light properties and requirements for mass production. In the lamp, the elements are put on top of each other to get rid of the glass fasteners.

During the development of the lamp, a musical composition was first chosen. The choice fell on the melody of Claude Debussy's "Prelude No. 3, Wind on the Plain." After that, the music was turned into an image of a sound wave using a special program. It became the basis for the silhouette of the lamp. However, small changes were made to it in order to optimize the design for the optimal light properties of the lamp and the requirements for mass production.

Unique in the design is a multi-stage system. With it, first, matte glass is put on a metal structure with a light bulb. And then a decorative glass element of different interchangeable colors is placed on this glass. With this, the structure is relieved of bolts and additional fasteners. Therefore, the production speed and quality are improved. The amount of scrap decreases, and therefore the damage to the environment decreases. And also the lamp becomes more durable.
In order to turn the silhouette of a sound wave, thinking out the design of the lamp turned out to be a difficult task. Since it was decided to use two glass elements of different colors in the same lamp, it was decided to apply the upper element to the lower one in order to get rid of additional fasteners, and achieve a concise design.
The project started in April 2023 in Moscow and finished in August 2023 in Moscow, and was exhibited in Interlight Russia 2023 in September 2023.
This collection is ideal for creating multilevel compositions by adjusting the height of the wires. Moreover, thanks to black wires and ceiling bowls that fit together, they can be used in flights of stairs, over dining tables, instead of sconces on the side of the bed. These lights will be a striking interior accent thanks to the design and craftsmanship of the glassblowers.
The goal of the designer was to turn the vivid emotions that people receive from music into a physical object, with the possibility of practical application at home. An important task was to study music programs that could make the melody a sound wave. And then it was decided to make a lamp out of it. Then there was a long process of choosing music, so that her silhouette is suitable for creating a silhouette of a lamp that can be produced.
The prototype of this lamp was the silhouette of the sound wave of the work of Claude Debussy, the great composer and innovator - one of the founders of modernism in music. This was achieved through a special program and styling by the designer. Now we can not only hear our favorite melody, but also see it. And also touch with your own hands.
