Production Technology
Thickened side panels veneered with Anatolian walnut are completed with a matte varnish finish. Ribbed bronze glass doors, handcrafted using the fusion technique, offer an elegant unity with pivot hinges that integrate with the metallic color of the product. The interior and exterior lighting system with touch sensors is arranged to operate regionally, ensuring functional integrity. The travertine block bottom panel with a metal leg, emphasizes its exclusivity with the illuminated brand logo.
Design Challenge
Special formula studies were carried out to obtain a metallic silk matte surface on the painted parts. The ribbed glass lids were created using precision molding and fusion technique. Studies were carried out on the interior illumination, light strip and light intensity of the illuminated brand logo. Solid walnut was used for the frame that forms the basis of the recessed handles on the drawers. A thick appearance was achieved by placing thin travertine sheets between the metal legs.
Project Duration
The project started in August 2023 in Istanbul and finished in December 2023 in Istanbul and was exhibited in Istanbul Furniture Fair in January 2024.
Operation Flow
Moderna becomes the focal point in its living space by combining the genetic codes taken from natural materials into a modern and timeless console. The sparkling and wavy silhouette visible behind the ribbed bronze glass doors highlights the luxurious and modern line of product with enlightened glass shelf. While drawer offers a functional solution with the organizer inside, it is completed with recessed handles where craftsmanship and ergonomics meet.
Research
Setting out to emphasize Doğtaş's strong and eye-catching stance, Moderna aimed for a unique exclusive design. While preserving the brand's design codes, many designs were designed with travertine and walnut veneer to symbolize the strong and noble stance of the product. A stylish product with a simple and modern design had to be created. Moderna completed its journey with a unique design philosophy that will reflect Doğtaş's core values in quality and aesthetics
Inspiration
Moderna was designed as a timeless console inspired by the Monument designed by Dogtas specially for the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkiye, carrying its heritage and genetic codes, where you will feel the artisan touches and blending today's trends with the traces of the past. The light line extending along the top plate symbolizes the infinity extending from the past to the future and is a signature of the product.
Project Overview
Moderna Sideboard has been a Silver winner in the Furniture Design award category in the year 2023 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Silver A' Design Award celebrates top-tier designs that embody excellence and innovation. This award acknowledges creations that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also highly functional, reflecting the designer's deep understanding and skill. Silver A' Design Award recipients are recognized for their contribution to raising industry standards and advancing the practice of design. Their work often incorporates original innovations and elicits a strong emotional response, making a notable impact on the improvement of everyday life.
