Insurance Reception Center for San Chuan Interior

To introduce natural light, glass bricks are incorporated at the entrance to enhance internal brightness while reducing visual oppression and maintaining privacy with low transparency haze. Combining glass bricks with stainless steel doors creates a dual layered effect, addressing insufficient lighting. Inspired by the ocean, tiles with flowing patterns, wave-shaped panels, and indirect lighting adorn the principal wall, evoking a deep and immersive ambiance. This harmonious interaction between light and materials creates a spectacular atmosphere, reminiscent of sailing amidst rolling waves.

Design Challenge

This concept centers around the symbiotic relationship between ocean life and the environment. Drawing inspiration from coral reefs and underwater ecosystems, the office design features clusters of organic shapes and vibrant colors. One of the main challenges was transitioning from traditional individual workstations to a shared long table workspace. This shift required meticulous planning to ensure that the shared desk not only enhances collaboration but also aligns with the aesthetic and functional needs of the office. The desk follows the natural flow of the space, with careful planning of movement paths to prevent crowding and maintain a balanced, efficient layout. Glass bricks are placed strategically to allow light to permeate through while providing privacy, enhancing the airy feel of the space. The design promotes both a collaborative atmosphere and respect for the environment.

Project Duration

This office design project was launched in August 2023 and completed in March 2024.

Operation Flow

Drawing inspiration from the rhythmic ebb and flow of ocean tides, this design incorporates gentle curves and fluid shapes to symbolize the perpetual cycle of the sea. The wave-like features integrated into the ceiling and floor contribute to a tranquil atmosphere, while a color palette dominated by neutral tones of sand and driftwood enhances the overall aesthetic. To improve workspace efficiency, modular curved desks are designed to emulate the movement of waves, thereby promoting an organic workflow. Additionally, glass bricks at the entrance serve to filter natural light, increasing brightness while preserving privacy through low transparency. This dual-layered effect ensures that the space remains open and luminous without sacrificing privacy, thereby achieving a harmonious balance between functionality and tranquility that fosters focus and collaboration.

Research

Inspired by the ebb and flow of tides, this design introduces gentle curves and fluid shapes to reflect the continuous cycle of the sea. Wave-like features in the ceiling and floor create a serene atmosphere, while neutral tones of sand and driftwood dominate the palette. To boost workspace efficiency, modular curved desks mimic wave movement, fostering an organic workflow. Glass bricks at the entrance filter natural light, enhancing brightness while maintaining privacy with low transparency. This dual-layered effect ensures the space feels open and bright without compromising privacy, balancing function and tranquility to encourage focus and collaboration.

Inspiration

The design is informed by the maritime history of the site and its connection to the origins of insurance, encapsulating the vastness and beauty of the ocean.
