One of the striking features is the unique zigzag-patterned wooden column cladding, adding dynamic movement and texture to the interior. Additional highlights include a fireplace built into a table, an aquarium, and dining tables made from tree trunk slices, all contributing to an organic and eco-friendly aesthetic. The bar counter and shelving were custom-designed, showcasing the designers' creativity and craftsmanship. Each chandelier in the restaurant is a one-of-a-kind art piece, making the space truly distinctive.
SOIA Design was tasked with creating a standout restaurant for Gosti Group that blends Georgian heritage with modern appeal. Avoiding standard hospitality solutions, we designed a space that’s both unique and functional. Traditional textures, custom furniture, and cutting-edge elements define the interior. Adaptable for events from tastings to concerts, Mamuli offers guests a memorable experience and helps position it as one of Krasnodar’s top dining destinations.
The project started in January 2023 and finished in March 2024 in Krasnodar.
The seating arrangements offer variety and comfort, catering to different needs, from private dining to larger gatherings. Even the restrooms feature an authentic design, aligned with the overall interior concept. For Georgian cuisine and wine lovers, a dedicated tasting room is available, immersing guests in a world of flavors and aromas. The venue also features a stage for musicians, central to the restaurant's cultural events. Additionally, there's a children’s playroom, making Mamuli an ideal destination for families.
This design research reinterprets cultural heritage through contemporary dining, using the Mamuli Restaurant as a case study. Through ethnographic research, 3D modeling, and user feedback, we explored how interior design can evoke a museum-like spirit while staying functional and welcoming. The results show strong appreciation for culturally rooted elements that enhance storytelling, emotional connection, and regional identity in experiential dining spaces.
The design concept is built around warm tones in the finishing materials, enveloping visitors in an ambiance of hospitality and comfort. Decorative finishes, like gold-plastered walls, bring a subtle sparkle and touch of luxury to the space. Notable elements include massive beehive-shaped chandeliers that symbolize traditional Georgian architecture and balusters crafted to resemble black peppercorns, emphasizing the country's culture and love for spices.
