Trident is a public toilet built by customizing the "product standardization process", unified visual, modularity, humanization, technology, to bring users a better sense of experience. Different from ordinary public toilets, a photovoltaic power generation system is specially set up on the roof of Trident , which can also provide power support for the surrounding residents to use the environment, while satisfying the basic conditions of the public toilets' own electricity.

Unique Properties

Trident is a public toilet built by customizing the "product standardization process",unified visual+modularity+humanization+technology，to bring users a better sense of experience. Different from ordinary public toilets,a photovoltaic power generation system is specially set up on the roof of Trident , which can also provide power support for the surrounding residents to use the environment, while satisfying the basic conditions of the public toilets' own electricity.

Production Technology

The facade walls are decorated with blue fluorocarbon paint perforated panel curtain wall, brushed stainless steel metal logo uses blue Acrylic to form a fixed social cognition. The internal wall surface, floor and all facilities are treated with gray waterproof paint. The hand-washing table is designed with all-corner artificial marble integrated hand-washing table to reduce the difficulty of cleaning, which is visually beautiful and reduces the accumulation of stained waster water.

Design Challenge

In addition to the architectural design itself, the greater difficulty lies in the overall improvement of the use environment, including air purification systems, identification systems, and administrator training, etc.

Project Duration

The project started in Shanghai Pudong in April 2019, was completed in October 2019, and was put into use in October 2019.

Operation Flow

The blue system signage,together with Beicai public toilet exclusive LOGO for promotional slogan display and indoor map guidance. A human body induction lamp is added to the toilet board, which is in off state when no one is using it, and remains on for 3 minutes to remind users. The design of sensor faucet and flush valve,clean and sanitary, avoid cross infection.Air purification machine and special fragrance system to improve the air quality in the toilet.

Research

Research Type: Social Public Facilities Research Research target: To solve problems in urban public toilet renewal Method: Product Design + Operation Integration Data collection and research tools: extensive social research Participants or experiments: air purification experiments, building facade module experiments Results: 30 public toilets in Shanghai Pudong have been put into normal use Insights: productive architectural design will become a new way to solve social public facilities architecture.

Inspiration

Based on the social background of the "Toilet Revolution", Trident designs public utility buildings as products and hopes to solve the problems of dirty and poor urban public toilets, difficult to find locations, aging equipment, and weak management.

Project Overview

Trident Public Toilet has been a Silver winner in the Street Furniture Design award category in the year 2019 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition.
