Multi Purpose Chair for Zitting n Seating (ZNS)
Plover is a collection of chairs specifically designed for workshop and seminar events where the chairs can either be used individually or collectively to aid brainstorming and co-creation. The design of Plover encourages the freedom of different sitting postures. The protruding “head” is at one time the extended end of the back support of the regular seated user; at the other time it becomes a small worktop for the user sitting in reverse. There are 3 models under the Plover series.

Unique Properties
Plover is a multi-purpose chair that allow various sitting postures to meet different work cultures and environments: 1. conventional front-facing seating concept; 2. horse-riding back-to-front seating concept with small tablet as wrist-support for texting with mobile phones; 3. Side seating concept with small tablet as armrest on the side; 4. High-level seating concept with user on tablet as stool with footrest 5. Design Challenge
The characteristic feature of the Plover Chair is the integrated tablet which offers a small work surface, For users at the following row in conventional classroom setting For users grouping around in horse-riding casual sitting posture in group discussion or collaborative workshops.
Project Duration
The project was first launch in 2019 at China International Furniture Fair (Guangzhou), March 2019.
Inspiration
Free like a Bird With the ability to roam the earth and soar up into the sky, birds are natural symbols of freedom. Capturing this free spirit of the birds as well as the duality of their solitary and social nature, Plover is a collection of chairs co-created by architect Eravolution Limited and a group of THEi product design students, either used individually or collectively for brainstorming, seminars and co-creation. The Plover chairs may appear delicate, but they got everything one needs.
Project Overview
Plover Multi Purpose Chair has been a Platinum winner in the Furniture Design award category in the year 2019 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Platinum A' Design Award is recognized for honoring designs that stand at the forefront of creativity and innovation. It is the highest accolade bestowed by the A' Design Awards, acknowledging works that blend remarkable innovation with impactful societal contributions. These designs not only showcase exceptional artistic and technical proficiency but also highlight their creators' commitment to advancing the boundaries of art, science, design, and technology.
