Unique Properties

Memory growth is a comfortable lounge chair from the growth memory of the Chinese born in the 1980s. It uses simple lines and comfortable soft bags to match the functions of the lounge chair in the modern home environment. Modern style and fashionable colors matching can add taste to home life. Memory growth is suitable for use in multiple scenes and is easy to install.

Production Technology

The main frame of Memory growth is made of round pipe bending and welding. We fully consider the beauty and strength of the welded part of the round pipe when welding the round pipe. The port of each welding position will be cut first, and then fully welded and polished. The cushion part and the backrest part are combined with styling cotton and wood board and then connected with the main frame by screws. The styling cotton can make the cushion and backrest satisfy the aesthetics of the shape while ensuring the comfort of sitting.

Design Challenge

It may be the biggest challenge to study the structure and craftsmanship of the chair production process, the presentation of colors, to achieve the perfect combination of comfort and robustness, and how to awaken the memories of people in the 1980s.

Project Duration

The project started in Zhengzhou in March 2021 and finished in Zhengzhou in August 2021.

Operation Flow

When you are tired, Memory growth greets you for the first time. When you are in it, the cushion and backrest are both elastic and supportive. The slanted profile embraces you like a partner; when you are getting together with friends, Memory growth quietly carries your friendship and share happy time.

Research

With the rapid increase of modern people’s anxiety in life, more and more people want to seek the comfort of home and yearn for the good things in life. Memory growth is mainly inspired by traditional Chinese old-fashioned back chairs, hoping to give people a warm care in the 1980s. We hope that Memory growth can convey good memories to them, and add a kind of innocent happiness brought by memory to life through comfortable companionship in modern homes.

Inspiration

The design was inspired by a traditional backrest chair from my grandmother’s house when I was young. I don’t know who designed this chair, but it’s widely spread among the people. I tried to replace the traditional solid wood furniture of the old tenon and tenon structure with a modern design, and present a lounge chair that can evoke people’s growth and memory. Different colors carry different growth memories. In its company, it opens people's innermost memory of good memories.

Project Overview

Memory Growth Lounge Chair has been a Silver winner in the Furniture Design award category in the year 2021 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Silver A' Design Award celebrates top-tier designs that embody excellence and innovation. This award acknowledges creations that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also highly functional, reflecting the designer's deep understanding and skill. Silver A' Design Award recipients are recognized for their contribution to raising industry standards and advancing the practice of design. Their work often incorporates original innovations and elicits a strong emotional response, making a notable impact on the improvement of everyday life.
