Production Technology

It is an all-in-one device which saves the need to purchase a large number of systems. The product was designed to enable the purchase of 1 to 4 handles, for maximum flexibility, based on the clinic’s needs. The handles are designed to fit perfectly with the therapist's palm, can be held at different angles depends on the body part treated and provide maximum visibility of the treatment area. The IPL handle includes 9 filters with different colors, which represent different wave lengths, enabling differentiation between the different treatments. Large touch screen with a user-friendly GUI that helps the therapist to choose the correct handle and treatment. Soft look that is suitable for esthetic clinic environment. Compact structure. Integrated storage for accessories.

Design Challenge

Each module requires different HW. Therefore we created one common HW, alongside a specific HW for each specific module. We conducted a big usability research, included dozens of users and service personnel, experimented the system (HW & SW). Each of the different indications of the Stellar went through clinical research. Each country has different regulation requirements – we needed to take it also in the development planning.

Project Duration

The project started November 2019 and ended March 2020.

Operation Flow

The graphical user interface was designed with both novice and expert users in mind. It features intuitive patient- and clinical-oriented selections for beginners, and prompts them with the relevant settings, or enables an advanced user to manually adjust them based on their understanding of laser-tissue interaction. In addition, the system incorporates several built-in safety mechanisms for enhanced patient and staff safety, such as laser triggers, automatic identification of accessories, and different interlocks.

Inspiration

Stellar M22 is a powerful modular multi-application platform, inspired by the brightest constellation in the sky. The key elements that guided the creation were: best value creation for the customer and best value creation for the patient, those by physical and technical features, such as 4-in-1 modular console, unique ergonomic handpiece design, dedicated built-in storage for accessories, and contemporary and intuitive graphical user interface.

Project Overview

Stellar M22 Aesthetics Treatment has been a Bronze winner in the Medical Devices and Medical Equipment Design award category in the year 2020 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Bronze A' Design Award is given to outstanding designs that showcase a high degree of creativity and practicality. It recognizes the dedication and skill of designers who produce work that stands out for its thoughtful development and innovative use of materials and technology. These designs are acknowledged for their professional execution and potential to influence industry standards positively. Winning this award highlights the designer's ability to blend form and function effectively, offering solutions that enhance people's lives and wellbeing.
