The machine uses abstract polygons and large instruction lights to construct images of natural glaciers, reflecting purity and stability. The use of a large area of transparent PC material brings a rich sense of layering and overall appeal to the body.

Unique Properties
Glacier is a kitchen food cleaner that effectively removes pesticide residuals, heavy metal, fertilizer and bacteria. The design purpose of Glacier is to express extraordinary cleanliness and high quality life attitude. The machine utilizes abstract polygons and large scale instruction lights to build a picture of natural glacier that embodies purity and steadiness. Usage of large area of transparent PC material brings rich layering and overall attractiveness to the machine body.

Production Technology
Glacier applies ABS and PC injection modeling. It contains hydroxyl water ion generator that degrade harmful substances in food.
Design Challenge
Glacier needs to utilize minimalist shapes to convey a neat metaphor that represent its core function of cleaning, and thus exhibit an attitude for high quality life.
Project Duration
The project started in August 2020 in Beijing and finished in December 2020 in Shenzhen, China
Operation Flow
A large control panel is installed on front side of Glacier with bottoms indicating "meat", "fruits", "vegetables" and etc. User need only put food into the machine and touch the botton, then operate easily with instructions.
Research
The technology of degrading harmful substance on food has not been widely known or accepted by major population. Instead of educating potential users with academic terms and specification, Glacier relies more upon dedicated overall design to boost its first image and captivation.
Inspiration
From our observation, target users who care about food cleanliness are also prone to life quality pursuance. Thus we build the machine's main body with abstract iceberg polygons to metaphorize the cold, clean and clear glacier that represent extreme purity. Together with the rich layer design, We enable Glacier to touch user's subconsciousness for stainlessness and to visually facilitate user's imagination for quality life.
Project Overview
Glacier Food Washing Machine has been a Bronze winner in the Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware and Cookware Design award category in the year 2020 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Bronze A' Design Award is given to outstanding designs that showcase a high degree of creativity and practicality. It recognizes the dedication and skill of designers who produce work that stands out for its thoughtful development and innovative use of materials and technology. These designs are acknowledged for their professional execution and potential to influence industry standards positively. Winning this award highlights the designer's ability to blend form and function effectively, offering solutions that enhance people's lives and wellbeing.
