CHAMPION BUILDING MATERIALS CO., LTD., The Bloom, Champion Tile, V-shaped, Wen Yuan Peng
External tile façade extended to Level One arcade and interior in smooth arc lines with consistent visual effect resolving glass door boundaries is a smooth integration of interior and exterior. With precise calculation, this tile facade design presents various looks throughout the day under different light and shades. External lighting presents a different visual impact at night, offering a three-dimensional sense of warmth. The parapet on the top floor breaks the homogeneous architectural form with a slightly downward arc and softens the cold and rigid image of the building with elegant line segments.
As a case of refurbished building project, the idea is to polish the image of 50-year ‘young' leader of the industry and flip traditional tile appearance. External tiles are designed to extend from façade to Level One arcade in smooth arc lines rather than traditional rigid image of tiles. The Bloom is done through three color shades of recyclable tiles designed in a variety of façade angles, creating a soft V-shaped curve implying the brand logo; a subtle visual integration of the building and brand. Visual rhythm brings out building vitality, showing the posture of a flying eagle. The whole building is a flower blooming in the urban forest, symbolizing the prosperity of the brand.
The project finished in May 2022 in Taichung City, Taiwan.
Renovation of this four-story building is done through three aspects: exterior building façade, the front window arcade, and the roof garden. This flagship store provides building material & lifestyle material solution and serves as a landmark standing out from the city skyline, an architectural artistic integration of interior and exterior. Rooftop Garden is a display of external tiles with a semi-open design available for outdoor events. Raised floor echoes external facade tiles, an extension of visual consistency. Clients are to experience outdoor breeze under the modern metal framed glass roof.
As a case of refurbished building project, the idea is to re-position the brand through image of a gallery with lifestyle events: diverse exhibition venues, dynamic events, and most importantly customer gathering. This project is a cost-efficient solution of old building regeneration and a flip of the brand image through image of a gallery. Majority of the building materials are sourced in Taiwan, including Champion local production recyclable tiles, an actual input reducing carbon emission. The Bloom is the essence of Champion brand and a renewal of consumer experience journey.
This project is located in the urban area of Taichung City; flagship store of the well-known building materials brand "Champion Tile". Celebrating Champion’s 50th Anniversary, this building lights up the brand in a whole new altitude. Design concept is based on sustainability, an implication of Champion brand mission to provide eco-friendly material solution. As a case of refurbished building project, the idea is to re-position the brand through image of a gallery with lifestyle events: diverse exhibition venues, dynamic events, and most importantly customer gathering.
