Galaxy Light, a smart electric coupe with an extended body and a low center of gravity, comes as a synthesis of high tech and the ripple aesthetic iconic to Geely. The designers approached the design holistically with a focus on a high tech exterior and function integration, while elevating the interior design with intuitive AI interaction and aChineseromanticstyle, making it a comfortable and futuristic space for users to enjoy a better life, cultural charm, and truly smart ecology.

Production Technology
Galaxy Light consolidates high tech and Chinese culture into a cosy space for a better life and smart mobility. Its encircling interior layout exudes a transparent sense. Its butterfly doors and large foldable curved display visually echo the high tech exterior. As for the interior decor, it uses bluish leather, bamboo fiber carpets, ripple patterns inspired by the West Lake, as well as various scenic elements of the West Lake, effortlessly inviting nature into the tranquil and elegant space.
Design Challenge
The designers were challenged to strike an optimal balance and integration of various functions. They leveraged the dynamic balance of ripples in the holistic design, blended Chinese elements into its exterior, fused natural aesthetics into its interior, and improved its functionality via technological upgrades, making it a valuable smart electric car at the juxtaposition of inheritance and innovation, technology and culture, while balancing the aesthetic appeal, performance and user experience.
Project Duration
Shanghai, China witnessed the design and development of the Galaxy Light, which started in June 2022 and was completed in November 2022. It was then exhibited in Hangzhou, China, in February 2023.
Operation Flow
1.The touch screen supports a free switch of diverse functions and six scenario modes. The in vehicle operating system can automatically switch to the frequently accessed mode via intelligent learning. 2. The interior is all about safety and intelligence. All the displays in an encircling arrangement form an immersive giant screen to offer all users independent access to entertainment and support one click message push, ensuring safe driving while achieving technological and emotional enjoyment.
Research
Consumers are fed up with the fashion driven designs pervading the crowded market of essentially identical electric vehicles. The designers believed that the car should not only serve as a means of mobility, but also double as a carrier of culture and aesthetics. In this context, the design of Galaxy Light is fused with the affinity that Chinese people admire in getting along with others, vividly representing Chinese aesthetic. It is really that simple but of high tech, along with a human touch.
Inspiration
Galaxy Light embodies the latest iteration of the ripple aesthetics iconic to Geely. Notably, the ripple has always been the super sign for Geely. Rooted in Chinese civilization, inheriting Chinese aesthetics, and fully leveraging the power of high tech, the Galaxy Light is finally here seamlessly blending what is dreamed of and what can be experienced. It takes a strong departure from the essentially identical EV designs, refreshing modern consumers with its unique aesthetic appeal.
Project Overview
Galaxy Light Concept Car has been a Platinum winner in the Car and Land Based Motor Vehicles Design award category in the year 2022 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Platinum A' Design Award is recognized for honoring designs that stand at the forefront of creativity and innovation. It is the highest accolade bestowed by the A' Design Awards, acknowledging works that blend remarkable innovation with impactful societal contributions. These designs not only showcase exceptional artistic and technical proficiency but also highlight their creators' commitment to advancing the boundaries of art, science, design, and technology.
