Chenglong Wetland, a village with a profoundly poignant tale, endured subsidence and typhoon disasters, leading to the abandonment of farming due to the intrusion of seawater. Despite these challenges, the evolving ecology transformed the deserted fields into a vibrant wetland. Every year, tens of thousands of migratory birds find sanctuary here, including rare species like the Black-faced Spoonbill, making the breathtaking sunset vistas a renowned tourist attraction. Through the visual design of this event, local residents have revitalized their lost farming lands, embracing a new way of coexistence with the land. By merging art with the synergy between people and nature, a unique symbiosis has been created, allowing survival, culture, and ecology to harmoniously thrive in this land.
Visual design, Graphic design, Typography, Color, Chinese Elements
The designer delved deeply into the local culture, gaining profound insights into its stories and origins. Utilizing innovative and disruptive creativity, they crafted astonishing visual effects. Through Adobe Illustrator, the designer meticulously refined the structure of Chinese characters, integrating intricate details. Additionally, Adobe Photoshop was employed to seamlessly blend local features, installation art, and elements of waterfowl. The result is a captivating visual masterpiece, rich in artistic depth and allure.
This project in Chenglong Wetland combines art and nature, changing the area for the better. Artists use local materials to create beautiful, eco-friendly artworks. People in the community and visitors interact with these artworks, raising awareness about wetlands and the environment. The art transforms the wetland into a vibrant, engaging space, creating a positive impact on both the environment and the people. This unique blend of art and nature helps people appreciate the wetland's beauty while also learning about its importance.
The project was held in Kukuo, Yunlin in September 2022
To capture attention, circular elements were strategically employed, guiding focus towards the combination of place names in the center of the visual. This unique and intricate style embodies the area's distinct geographical features and profound significance. Such a design not only piques interest in the event but also establishes a connection between the viewers and the locale, encouraging collective concern for this place in need of revitalization.
"The ChengLong Wetlands International Environmental Art Project" has been held for over a decade since 2010. Through art, it has not only given ChengLong Village a fresh start but has also prompted villagers to reconsider their relationship with the environment. Art has played a pivotal role in revitalizing the ChengLong Wetlands."
This visual design deeply draws inspiration from the event's location, ingeniously rearranging the place name and merging it with its reflection on the water's surface, showcasing exquisite aesthetics that highlight the unique structure of Chinese characters. Enhanced by the distinct ripples on the wetland's surface and complemented by the endangered global waterfowl, the Black-faced Spoonbill, the design accentuates the vibrant, Endless Cycle of Life within the wetland. More than just a visual creation, it encapsulates a profound symbolism representing the marvelous ecology and the cultural significance of the local community within the wetland.
