Production Technology

It adopts the filigree inlaying, a Chinese intangible cultural heritage. The main body of the box and brooch are hand-woven with S925Silver drawn into 0.2mm fine wire, and are combined with modern techniques such as high-temperature enamel and diamond inlay to integrate Chinese handicraft with modern fashion, creating an overall exquisite and elegant fashion of the jewelry box.

Design Challenge

The technique of filigree inlaying used in this collection combines a variety of traditional Chinese handicraft techniques, and the production process is very complex, including the production of the form, filigree weaving, welding, electroplate, high-temperature enameling, inlay and other steps, which are difficult to be replaced by machinery. The brand of this work still insists on using the most complete and detailed production methods in order to provide the most exquisite and original craftsmanship for its customers.

Project Duration

This project was started at the beginning of 2020 and was finished at the end of 2021.

Operation Flow

In addition to containing jewelry, Interdependence jewel case is also a beautifully shaped, good-looking artwork. The decorations on the box covers that are designed based on flowers, butterflies, dragonflies and cicadas can be taken off independently and worn as brooches, so that they can accompany and adorn users on various high-end occasions.

Research

The four elements of flowers, butterflies, dragonflies and cicadas are selected as detachable decorations because of their connotations related to love. Flowers are associated with women and love in various cultures; butterflies are often seen as a symbol of free love; dragonflies are a symbol of love between lovers; and cicadas are often celebrated in literature as the pursuit of love with life.

Inspiration

This work is inspired by the interdependence between the fauna and flora, and four natural species, namely blossoming flowers, pairing butterflies, dancing dragonflies and cicadas on leaves.

Project Overview

Yi Yu Jewelry Box has been a Iron winner in the Limited Edition and Custom Design award category in the year 2021 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. This recognition is reserved for works that demonstrate a solid understanding of design principles and show creativity within their execution.
