Public Space Interior Design for Haifu Construction Co., Ltd.
This project specifically increases the proportion of greenery in the base area. Both indoor and outdoor greenery and natural soil mulch maintain the water retention effect, which effectively reduces the carbon dioxide level. The green atrium and open space design allow for natural airflow, and the terrace angle shading is carefully planned to reduce energy consumption of air conditioning equipment by studying the sunlight angle. The volume of the building is organized in two systems, one is the internal structural system and the other is the facade.

A green atrium is set up in the center of the building, running from the first floor down to the third underground basement floor, with plants in all corners of the atrium, so that even on the ground floor you can feel the comfort of natural light and greenery. This green space also extends upward to the sky garden of the main entertainment lobby on the second floor, which has both public and private functions. The atrium is dotted with green plants both big and small, blurring the boundary between the man-made and the natural.

Since the site is located in the Xinying District of Tainan City, during the design phase we wanted to echo the history and tradition of Taiwan historic capital city. Therefore, we collaborated with local craftsmen to transform traditional materials into interior decorative elements. The features of brickwork and bamboo weave were emphasized, paired with modern stone materials to put together overarching stylistic features. This responds to the location and leverages modern techniques to transform traditional symbols, so that the ambience of the space is not only imbued with cultural tradition, but also features the new and old characteristics of stylish luxury.
The spatial composition of a multi-dwelling residential complex is a repetition of units, and it is a challenge to create distinct variability and hierarchy. The architects studied the conditions of the site and the local cultural heritage, and designed different styles for different spatial needs, which were then integrated into a whole. The public space is regarded as a key element of the interior of the space, which must satisfy the need for privacy and tranquility of the residence on the one hand, and establish a relationship with the environment on the other. Therefore, a multi-layered and interconnected space is built in batches from the inside out, so that the public and private spheres can be integrated together naturally and comfortably.
The project started in February 2022 in Tainan, Taiwan.
The primary focus of the residential space focuses on the creation of living space and settings, while the secondary aspect also hopes to establish interpersonal communication within the community through comfortable public spaces. The high-ceilinged lobby on the first floor has a high outward orientation and directly connects to the community. The north side has a spacious dining area, bar and banquet hall, while the south side is a multi-functional social and reading area, suitable for welcoming and entertaining visitors. The entire public space is decorated with natural marble and bamboo-weaved installation art, nestled between abundant greenery to introduce visual connections into the large and refined space. Different spatial experiences have been designed for different usage settings and scenarios.
On the second floor, the lounge hall emphasizes the privacy of the residents, with a bar and lounge area for residents, a children's play area, a meditation and yoga area, and an outdoor green terrace plaza. The overall space is adorned with soft fabrics and woods paired with natural kiln-fired bricks, presenting a welcoming atmosphere and a place for residents to engage with their close friends. The roof level is equipped with a gym and a ktv room, and the overall spatial vision is linked to the greenery of the rooftop sky garden. The sky garden area combines tea and barbecue functions to create a multifaceted place for relaxation surrounded by greenery.
This project in Xinying District, Tainan City is a multi-dwelling unit built by Hai-Fu Construction and Development. The building offers expansive vistas of surrounding greenery. Therefore, the architect considers this view to be one of the major advantages of the site, and adopted an open design for the public areas, bringing the greenery of the outdoors into the indoor environment. Also, since Tainan is a famous historical capital of Taiwan, the interior space also integrates various vintage elements with modern design elements, blending the impression of the old and the new in this historic city.
