Residence for Onwalk Design

The project objective is to develop a design that can cater to both the present and future requirements of the residence. While the current occupant is the sole resident, the house may accommodate partners and family members in the future. In order to enhance flexibility, the original four bedroom layout was restructured into a three bedroom configuration, allowing for increased space in each area. The gaming room was amalgamated with the collection room, and the worship room was integrated with the multifunctional room.

Production Technology

The master bedroom was designed with dark colors as the focal point. The gray base with dark wood grain not only added depth to the visual space, but also created a comfortable and stable atmosphere for the residents to rest.

Design Challenge

In the combined gaming and collection room, RGB lights were used as the foundation to create a magical gaming atmosphere. Recessed lights with natural light sources were utilized as lighting fixtures in the display cabinets to highlight the colors of the GK figurines, turning them into colorful wall decorations.

Project Duration

The project was completed in New Taipei City, Taiwan, in October 2024.

Operation Flow

The stunning curved chandelier suspended above the central island serves as a powerful symbol, representing the aspiration to be a dragon in the game of Go and conveying well wishes for the owner's success in both the game and his career.

Research

The foyer was designed to address the feng shui issues of a narrow space and the through the door brake. The team utilized a skeleton design to reduce the pressure and sense of closure in the space. Additionally, long rainbow glass was used to avoid the feng shui concern of looking directly into the living room upon entering. Mirrors were also placed on the sidewalls to create a broader feeling of space. Various design techniques and material elements were incorporated to add depth to the area.

Inspiration

The design of this project draws inspiration from the rich symbolism and aesthetics of the game of Go, which holds special significance for the owner. The layout takes cues from the points, lines, and surfaces of the Go board, while the dominant color palette reflects the iconic black and white tones of the game. The stunning curved chandelier suspended above the central island serves as a powerful symbol, representing the aspiration to be a dragon in the game of Go and conveying well wishes.
