Laponian Family
Containers for Duni Group
Inspired by the nature of the polar circle, and designed for multi-usage. The steel containers have a removable compartment inside and fit into each other for a range of combinations. Use them as cutlery holders, for snacks, or as a flower vase. The steel can be chilled and used as wine cooler. The glass items are fit for candles and LED plugs in addition to food servings or accessories. Organise the items on the steel centrepiece or use the centrepiece individually as a serving plate. The sphere-shaped LED plug holder can be fitted with a suspension kit and hung from the ceiling or a wall.

Production Technology

Design Challenge
The pandemic challenge of working digitally only during the development phase together with our factory.
Project Duration
The project started in February 2020 in Malmo Sweden and finished in December 2021 in Malmo Sweden. The product launch was January 2022.
Operation Flow
Flexibility in use: 2 pieces of the Round steel container fit into the Oval container. The oval container has a separate compartment inside. Steel can be chilled in the freezer for cooling bottles or for serving food on the centerpiece. Glass containers 1 and 2 can be used for tea lights, LED candles, or as containers for food or non-food. Glass Sphere has a connection for a LED plug in CMYK colours, and can be fitted with a screw-on suspension kit for hanging on the ceiling or wall.
Research
The design objective was finding a space-saving solution, with an extended life length for a broad usage area with food/non-food. The business motivation was adding value and creating an experience for HoReCa and end-customer. Initial interviews with stakeholders in HoReCa were performed to define problems. Project members visited fairs/events and performed online research to gather insights. Material evaluations and further interviews with stakeholders were performed regularly throughout the length of the project.
Inspiration
Inspired by the force of the Nordic nature. Flexibility to fit a variety of interior styles, occasions, and seasons, durability in time. Easy to clean, long-lasting materials with multi-usages for professional convenience in the HoReCa sector. Mono materials, easy to separate, easy to recycle.
